BREAKING: Campus in Lockdown – STAY INSIDE
I’ve waited a while to post this to see how things unfold, but the campus is still in the lockdown that began at approximately 6:45PM this evening. Students received a phone call, text message, and e-mail alerting them to the situation, saying that there was a “dangerous subject possibly on campus.” It ended by telling students “stay inside, lock doors. Check e-mail for info. NOT A DRILL.”
This initial alert was later followed up by an e-mail from Dean of Students Fredrick Alford telling students a description of the suspect as well as his last known location. The e-mail assured students that Hartford Police (HPD) was on scene helping to take care of the situation, and that students should remain inside. Subsequent follow up e-mails reiterate the fact that the suspect is expected to be on or around Trinity’s campus, and that he is still on the lam.The last e-mail from Alford was at 9:10PM telling students that campus is still in lock down and that:
We have reports that the suspect fired one shot at the police and that the police have narrowed their search to the area just off campus. The police still consider the situation to be dangerous and we all need to heed their requirement that we stay put until the police can assure us the suspect has been apprehended.
We want to remind everyone that this isn’t a drill and you should remain indoors for your safety. Luckily they think they know where he is. If you see anything don’t hesitate to contact HPD.
Description of suspect: “The man is Caucasian, wearing tan shorts, a gray T-shirt over a long sleeved gray shirt, and is bare-footed.”
Updates as they come.
